Here's the AMAHZING blog post review thingy (I'll highlight my favorite parts in GREEN in case you don't want to read everything (Shame on you.) )

First of all, I CANNOT say enough about how impressed I am that Idina was willing to come down and do this show. Here's the story... Phil (the guy organizing the event) was apparently in RENT at one point in time. He became good friends with Idina and he told some stories about how she got him into one of the Wicked workshops at one point, and he had encouraged her after she didn't get a part in Thoroughly Modern Millie (apparently tap dancing was involved! haha), and he actually is the one that adopted Ella and Coltrane (the "jazz cats") for Idina as a birthday present! So, he's been working on Broadway for years, and then back in August, he moved to Atlanta and got a job as the first Director of Diversity at Pace Academy. He told Idina was he was doing and said (maybe as a joke?) that she should come down and do a benefit for the program. She said she would, but they never nailed anything down. Then, apparently it went back and forth for a while and literally last week, he said that he got a final confirmation e-mail from her saying "I'll be there." So, that explains the lack of publicity and whatnot. This was never intended to be a big thing. He told this incredible story about all of these kids at his school, especially this one girl, who would find out that he'd been in RENT and come sneak into his office and pick his brain on it. They also asked him if he really knew Idina and stuff. So, he knew how incredibly motivational it would be for all of them to get to meet her...
So, that's why she's here, moving on.... This theater holds, I don't know, maybe 250 people, and it wasn't full by any stretch of the imagination. Don't be sad, though. I really don't think they intended for it to be. It was such a casual and intimate thing, I can't even describe it! Apparently they had some technical difficulties of some sort and she was still warming up, and so we they didn't let us into the actual theater until just before 3. There were 5 of us that met up beforehand and we beelined for the front row! I was RIGHT in front of her most of the time, as you'll see in the pics. haha So, after Phil finishes his intro, Idina comes struttin' out and she's just like "hi everybody!" She starts peering out into the audience... she's got her bottle of vitamin water with her... all cool and chilled out. She introduces her piano player, who is the same guy from the spring tour. I got to talk to him later. Very nice guy! He sits down at the piano and she sits down in a like rolly desk chair! haha She talks to Phil a little bit about old memories and how proud she is of him for what he's doing and stuff. Then she asks if everybody can hear her okay because she'd rather not USE A MIC!!! Ahhhhh!
So, she sings I Stand, just incredibly! Then she does the most beautiful performance of No Day But Today (that's the one I recorded!!!) and she walks offstage at one point to sing the end with Phil. Then they have several of the students come up and perform, and let me tell you, these are some TALENTED KIDS!!! They were amazing. She gave each one of em a big hug and was so sweet to them. Then they did a Q&A. It was literally just a raise your hand and they'll call on you thing. They mostly called on the little kids and they asked some really precious questions. Nothing at all inappropriate. One girl got a little detailed about asking specific advice for her own fledgling career, but that's the worst of it. The really little kids were just precious!
Then at the end she sang Heaven Help My Heart *faint again* and Defying Gravity. There may have been one more at the end, but I can't remember. I'll check the audio... It really wasn't ANYTHING like a normal concert. It was so small and personal. She brought up the baby long before anybody else could. She hugged the belly a couple of times, which was adorable. Someone did ask her what her next career move would be and she said that having the baby was really what she was focused on right now. She said she knew that there would be another album and another broadway show, and she wanted all of that, but that right now she was taking some time to focus on being a mom. She also talked about how close the diversity issue was to her knowing that she had a baby one the way, and she didn't explicitly mention that her baby would be interracial, but she implied that had a lot to do with why this touched her heart.
SO... after the "show" was over, we left the school and went to the headmaster of Pace Academy's MANSION! It was freakin' HUGE! And I sell luxury homes for a living. This thing was NICE! They had a huge spread of little sandwiches, and drinks and stuff. We just milled around talked to people. Met some really neat people. I didn't see her come in, but at some point we realized that there were people in a room at the far end of the house, so we went over there and she was sitting on couch talking to people and signing autographs. We just hung out in the room watching her (creepy I know) for a while, then eventually got in line and did our little meet and greet thing. I FINALLY got my lithograph signed! Yay! FYI - Poor thing was trying to eat lunch while she was signing!
She stayed at the house, gosh, probably for an hour and a half or two hours. It was really generous. Everybody got to sit on the couch with her and get something signed or whatever they wanted for at least a minute or two. We left when she did and for the stalkers among you, she left in a blue Honda SUV! haha It was probably Phil's, I'm assuming.
Okay, without further delay:
